Analysis of the Chula Vista’s Bayfront Plan & Gaylord Project Finds Plan “Fatally Flawed”

p>San Diego-TaxpayersAdvocate.org today released an analysis of the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan (CVBMP) which found that while promising to generate “…millions of dollars of new revenues for the Port of San Diego, the City of Chula Vista and Chula Vista’s redevelopment agency, the requirement of almost $300 million in up-front infrastructure costs make it fatally flawed.” The study found that the City’s “…financial problems will likely preclude it from participating in up-front infrastructure financing. Any attempt to do so could have drastic and fatal consequences for the City if Chula Vista.”

(SAN DIEGO) TaxpayersAdvocate.org officially announced today that it is opposing Carlsbad’s citizens’ initiative, also known as Proposition E. Last week, TaxpayersAdvocate.org released an independent critical analysis by Rea & Parker Research (www.rea-parker.com) of Carlsbad’s Proposition E, demonstrating the harsh impacts if the measure passes November 7th.

DEL MAR – The City Council has ratified its contract with the county Sheriff's Department for law enforcement services, but Councilman Henry Abarbanel, for one, was not amused by the 24 percent jump in costs compared with a year ago.

CARLSBAD ---- An economic report released Thursday by a new taxpayers association has found that a controversial Cannon Road agricultural preservation initiative known as Proposition E could cost Carlsbad more than $50 million if it passes in November.

That's at least $13 million higher than what a city-funded study found several months ago.

Study by activists finds it could cost $50 million

CARLSBAD – An independent taxpayers advocacy group says passage of Proposition E, the agricultural-preservation initiative, could cost the city $50 million.

The study, commissioned by a watchdog group called TaxpayersAdvocate.org, supports a long-held City Council position that Proposition E could threaten the city's fiscal health by forcing it to condemn and buy farmland along Cannon Road near Interstate 5 in order to keep it agricultural.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Despite strong and consistent revenue growth, The City of Del Mar has increased General Fund spending over 104% in the last ten Years.  These City Council approved spending decisions have resulted in Del Mar facing the prospect of significant financial problems in the years ahead. It is very likely that Del Mar will face "structural deficits" in the near term.
